Personal background

  • Diplom (~ BSc & Masters) (Geography/Geosciences) University of Trier, Germany
  • CRCCH PhD, University of Melbourne, Vic

Anticipated research outcomes/products

  • Clarification and recognition of decision-making processes, in particular the priority-setting, and their inherent impendiments to help waterway managers identify barriers to successful planning
  • Ideas for improvement for the further development of frameworks, guidelines and other decision-making support systems to design more efficient river rehabilitation projects
"My interest in our environment started in 1990 when I joined the University of Trier in Germany. As a physical geography/geosciences student, I learned to appreciate the diversity of the environment and its complex processes. With big budgets allocated to the area of river restoration over the last few years in Australia, researchers, decision-makers and community groups want to know how effective this investment has been. I aim to identify and understand the main impediments and factors influencing a successful application of prioritisation procedures in the planning phase of river rehabilitation projects, through a review of prioritisation procedures."
